Icy Date with Almond Shake

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg, plus extra for garnishing
  • 1/3 cup chopped pitted dates
  • ½ cup fat-free vanilla soy or dairy yoghurt
  • 4 pc ice cubes
  • 2 tbsp warm water
  • 1 pc very ripe banana, frozen
  • 2 cups vanilla almond milk, chilled

Preparation:

  1. In a small bowl, arrange the dates and drizzle with the warm water. For about 5 minutes, let the mixture soak for about 5 minutes to soften, then drain.
  2. Mix in the almond milk, ripe banana, dates, ice cubes, 1/8 tsp nutmeg and yogurt in a blender then blend completely until consistency becomes smooth and frothy. This would take about 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in the mixture into tall and chilled glasses then garnish with a sprinkle of the remaining nutmeg.

This recipe features a thick, frosty and creamy shake that is a breeze to prepare. Just see to it that the yogurt and the almond milk are really ice cold. Also, be certain that the banana is frozen. Before freezing, peel and halve the banana for better results.
